Aroids are my hobby rather than my profession (sadly!!) and thus I have been growing Colocasias and Alocasias for some 7 years now with them growing outside in and around the koi pond during summer and given winter protection.

I have recently found out about the excitingly rare, and totally impossible to get here in the UK, tropical species i.e. Cyrtosperma in essence the Giant Colocasia and Typhonodorum resembling a completely aquatic Alocasia, with the aim of building them a tropical heated greenhouse to reside in for most of the year - only being able to go outside esp the Cyrtosperma when as now we have night time temperatures over 15 celsius (Typhonodorum being ok at a minimum of 10 to 12 C).
